Perseverance
When the pandemic was still going strong after a couple of months, and people wanted more than passive hope to keep going, Projeto 242 decided to address the struggle with a series of talks on perseverance. Perseverance is hope in action, day after day, until it becomes natural, until the process matters more than the goal. The process for this illustration began with a couple of quick pencil sketches, one of which became the basis for the final illustration depicting an ambiguous alien figure – inspired by herd animals (musk ox and reindeer) from the Arctic – wandering alone through a vast frozen desert. The text was cut in unnatural places to also reflect the feeling of detachment and isolation.
