Digging in the dirt
Since I was a child of 5, I was working in the fields with my parents in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
I worked in the fields all thru college until my senior year. Honestly, I hated every minute of it.

Chopping cotton, picking grapes, oranges, peaches, cantaloupes, chilis, irrigating orchards –
with endless rows of crops that go on forever and ever!
Today, when I zip past a field with farm workers toiling, I feel their pain and their unappreciated efforts.

However, with different eyes I also see the beauty of the crop designs and geometry.
I smell and feel the soil in my soul.
I am being taken back – digging in the dirt.
