World Savings Day 2021

First National Bank Namibia

World Savings Day is celebrated worldwide on October 31. It aims to create awareness about the importance of savings as a means of reducing poverty, promoting financial literacy and educating individuals on how to manage their finances.

To commemorate this day, FNB Namibia launched a Savings Day Campaign, incorporating their already existing #TheChangeables initiative, to emphasise the importance of saving. The theme for this year centred around teaching children how to save.

Below are a few headlines and captions for the campaign's social media platforms.
The sooner you save the faster your money grows. Think ahead and empower your children with the tools to help them reach their financial goals.
Help them kickstart a life full of success. Take action today to build the future you want for them tomorrow.
The value of money is best learned young and being disciplined is about doing small things daily and consistently. Make learning about money a fun and enjoyable experience. For example, give your children a calculator while out shopping and let them help you keep track of amounts.
A young mind is a sharp mind. Pave the way for them to push beyond boundaries and pioneer their own future.
Get involved in the family’s daily spending habits. From budgeting for groceries to deciding what family goals to save up for. Leading by your parents’ example is the most impactful way to reinforce a positive relationship with money.
A wise banker once said, “don’t spend money on things that don’t matter, so that you can spend money on the things that do.” Knowing when to save and when to spend is a vital skill in the business of life.
A secure future starts with a plan. A plan to earn and a plan to save what you earn. When you learn the value of saving you set yourself up for a future of financial confidence.
Good habits start early and last a lifetime. Develop good saving habits that carry you through into adult life. Start by setting goals for your savings as this will help you determine why you are saving money. The why is often more important than the what.
Money is earned, not given, and earning pocket money is a great way to learn how money works. Get involved in the daily household chores to start building your savings.
When you start small, you finish big. So, a little a day makes all the difference.
What you want now may not be what you need later. Patience reaps the biggest rewards. A safe and secure future is in your hands.
Where there’s an opportunity there’s a cost. It’s important to weigh your decisions to understand all the possible outcomes. Buying a new toy today may mean no new shoes tomorrow. Planning and saving makes future purchases possible.
