Designed in relation to a brief where we were required to build a coffee or side table that is inspired by nature.

Inspired by the gills on the under cap of a mushroom, this side table is designed to be used as a feature piece within a living room. Integrated onto the underneath of the table top, the initial design created layered textures to reflect the dynamic structure of a mushroom.
The final iteration of the table was a collaboration between myself and a class member. A combination of our initial designs, the final design is a statement piece that explores the juxtaposition between the organic and rigid shapes. Showcasing the textured embellishments through the middle of the table, the piece is a comment on the value of aesthetics over practicality.
