Pill Organizer
PRODUCT REDESIGN
Ever since I was 12 years old and diagnosed with medical problems, I have started the week off by filling a weekly pill container with my daily medications so that I can keep my medicine organized and keep track of whether of not I have taken them that day. Although this product makes my life easier, I have identified flaws within the design that if resolved, would create an even more effective product.
My first complaint is that it is not an ideal system for travel. With the limitation of just 7 days, that means that you have to bring all of your pill bottles to refill the container if you are staying longer than 7 days. This also means you have to bring all 7 days of medicine if you are going on a 2 day trip.

With my redesign I created a system where you can customize your pill container depending on the length of your trip. The compartments of each day attach and detach through sliding grooves so that you the exact amount of pills needed. You do not need to worry about refilling your container, so you can pack lightly and leave those pill bottles at home.
My product also has a separated side for nighttime medicine and a side for morning medicine, so that you do not need to have two separate pill cases for day and night. There is also a spot for “as needed” medicine so that you do not need to carry around a whole separate pill bottle of medicines you don’t take on a daily basis, for example in case you get a migraine.
Unlike the original pill container, with this product, you do not need to worry about compartments opening in your suitcase, spilling pills everywhere. This new pill container is spill proof through its button security on the sliding doors. The pressure from the wall will push the button down, releasing the button to fit in the hole, creating a secure lock system.
My product redesign creates a spill proof, portable pill container that organizes all of your medicine in one place, that is especially convenient for travel.
