The Value of Money

ART IS TO SHOW TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN
Money is an essential part of our lives, and we heavily depend on it to survive. It helps
us to raise our standards of living to live a better life, achieve life’s goals and support
the things we care about. From this, we can derive that money is considered a
necessity to keep us going.

There is a Chinese saying that goes “有钱能使鬼推磨” which means
“money can make a ghost turn millstones” or that with money, you can do
anything you want, that money is the root of all evil.
The purpose of this photobook is to show people that despite money being of importance to the world, being controlled by money can affect a person’s outlook of life.
Money is a simple thing but not many understand the concept or value of it. For some people, having money represents power while others view money as a source of security.

I wanted to highlight the journey of a coin and the different paths that it may have been on be it good or bad, to reiterate that art is about showing two sides of the same coin.

I implore my audience to ask themselves what does money mean to them
through this project.
