A02: Image Making
For this assignment, we were to create an image based on a pair of rhyming words. We were to create these images using the iconic qualities we learned in the last project.
Sketches:
We created 50 sketches of different sets of rhyming words as well as different ways to visualize them.
Roughs:
We were to pick three of our thumbnail sketches to develop further. I chose "block lock," "eye fly," and "plane chain."
First Finish:
For our first finish, we picked two sets to finish developing. I worked on "block lock" in Illustrator to make it look like a wooden block with strong perspective and texture.

Instead of continuing on with "fly eye," I went on to develop "fly tie" instead. I made a bunch of cartoon flies in Illustrator and used motion to show them flying around. In this draft, I have the collar part of the tie shown the add visual context.
Finish:
For my final draft of "lock block," I used a different type of line pattern to show the wooden material. I adjusted the perspective to be more accurate and I made each of the lines thicker so they could have a bolder, more iconic look.

For my final draft of "fly tie," I used a dover image of a fly that I vectorized and multiplied so the flies look more realistic. I took away the collar part because it wasn't necessary for the representation of the tie. Some of the flies have strayed to make it look like they are moving all around as flies do.
