IMAGE MARKS & EXPANSION

PROJECT STATEMENT

We were directed to make six fully vectorized image marks for this project, each using a different rendering style. The same object would be used for all renderings. We experimented with diverse perspectives, lighting, and scale to ensure we had a successful image, to begin with.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The audience would be individuals in the community working on projects but can't afford or don't have the tools to get the job done. We would also provide tools to Habitat for Humanity for building projects.

RESEARCH

At the start of this task, we researched various graphic styles and their use in the design industry. We then worked independently to compile multiple sketches in four different styles based on our findings. We chose three different hand tools we selected. We produced twelve different sketches for this part of the process.

DESIGN PROCESS

We kicked off this project by choosing three-hand objects; next, we photographed them at different angles and perspectives. We did twelve sketches of our objects following those steps, four each ( I started on paper but moved to Procreate on my iPad. We explored different angles, scales, and details and finally simplified our marks. Finally, we chose one object and pitch that was the most successful in moving forward within Adobe illustrator. Next, we created six updated sketches of our object focusing on different graphic styles such as color blocking, line art gestural, pop art, monochrome, geometric. We created six rendered iterations of our object using our best graphic styles, each in a different graphical style.

DESIGN SOLUTION
Following the creative direction of my professor, the design outcome was successful. I chose pliers for my tool, took the appropriate steps to experiment with different styles, and finally chose the best one for the Expansion Project. I experimented with a few different names and ended up choosing The Tool Box with the tag A Tool Sharing Community.
