Monkey Color Studies

Color Studies Project
Every so often there will be times where a designer will be asked to create original work from some other artist work. To add differentiators would be to utilize different hues, composition, and creative mark making.
Above is the original photo I chose to complete this project. It was then cropped down to allow the monkey to bleed off the page. For differentiators, the color schemes monochrome, complementary, split-complementary, and triad were used to create four new compositions.
Monochrome Monkey
In these first two compositions, the monochrome and complementary, the most blending was used. Making both not as cartoon-like with the bright colors that created it.
Complementary Monkey
Split-Complementary Monkey
The split-complementary monkey took a slightly different approach than the first two. Blending colors was still used, as well as erasing lines in different areas to create a darker appearance.
Triad Monkey
To further differentiate the triad monkey from the other compositions, less blending marks were made. Especially in the face and ear, the lines are more solid and less believable.
