Summer of 2013
Had the pleasure of creating Mike Romero Music's first music video for his song "Wildfire (Accoustic)" and launching it at the same time as his deluxe album.
This project was made at youth church camp called Messiah's Ranch on an island in their lake. We utilized part of their worship set to film the worship scenes and took off from there. During the wordship set, I utilized my Glidecam and swept across the crowd. After the worship, we ran through the song two more times and I continued to use the Glidecam, then moved locations.
The second location was on the bridge connecting the island. I used my tripod and Glidecam, the Glidecam in one run through and the tripod in another. This shot took time because we needed to move all the lighting to the sides of the dock to give the musicians some lighting by their feet.
After the bridge, we moved to the dock (the shot with individuals playing their instruments). In this shot I set up my tripod and we had each band member play through the song. After the dock we were finished for the night. This was all recorded in one night without scripting or planning or anything.
Post production included some planning and listening to the song to know where to begin each scene. I pieced together the clips by layering several on top of each other and then deleting the unnecessary roll overs. Since there was no planning involved with this video, we needed to improvise for some slacking during post. I needed to move things around a lot in the video just to keep some interest in the video.
When all was said and done, Mike was able to launch this video on the same day as his deluxe album for "We Will Shine".
