The Boat Effect

the boat effect: a sound cum art installation
Taken at State Art Gallery, Guwahati

‘The boat effect’ is an art cum sound installation. Through this I have tried to look at the abstract and the sublime relationship between man and a boat, and the sounds associated with them. It is an attempt to express my interpretation of this very unusual but beautiful relationship through my installation.

Boats have been ferrying people across water since a long long time ago. These two elements have indeed evolved with each other in a unique style of there own. Everyday people, feelings, emotions, thoughts and even desires of man cross over the physical medium of water to a metaphysical world. This relationship blends in with the space around it, giving birth to an environment that encompasses emotions, a physical relation, sounds, experiences and other such fragments of this relationship. It thus gives a higher meaning to this relation where the animate and the inanimate worlds collide creating a symphony, like one never heard before.

I thus intend not only to create an art but rather an experience through my installation.
