Residual Recollections

Residual Recollections
A collection of fallen foliage

Born out of a school project, Residual Recollections examines the often overlooked and omitted forgotten florae in our midst — wilted parts of Nature that are scattered around drains, along pavements, on sidewalks, or just about anywhere. To capture her ephemeral beauty, I wanted to take a photograph in the most organic form - without a camera - a photogram.

This project was awarded Silver at The Crowbar Awards, 2018.

Process and experimentations
The initial experiments created terrible results, as the photograms were either underexposed or overexposed. It wasn't easy to capture the natural movements of foliage on a light-sensitive sheet, as I wanted the elements of wind and light to truly 'shoot' the image. Below are some experimentations that failed to make the cut.

Experimentation with the mix of organic and man-made objects just to test and see what materials with different translucencies can result in. What you see below are some of the results of that.
