Foundation Degree in Art and Design & A' Level Art Work (Fine Art and Printmaking)
Although Graphic Design is my chosen art form or further study at degree level, I also have interests in fine art, modern art and printmaking. I really enjoy making abstract art using inks and acrylic paint, I like the abstract expressionism movement and artists such as Jackson Pollock so I feel as if my work is definitely inspired by that. This is a collection of recent fine art work from my Art and Design Foundation course as well as examples from A' level Art in Year 13.
These pieces of fine art work from my Art and Design Foundation course are created without any expectations or rules and they essentially follow the ideals of the abstract expressionism movement.
The following piece shows work using both printing and fine art techniques from the textiles module of the Art and Design Foundation course. The effect was created by painting the background in ink, then by using bleach on a paint brush and/or stick to paint onto the fabric. I have enjoyed combining techniques and learning about new art forms through our textile work.
This example shows the idea of continual movement and how using movement can create an interesting piece of art. Also from the Art and Design Foundation course.
The first two pages of my A' Level art portfolio are abstract charcoal drawings from the beginning of Year 13 when I started to explore and research my chosen Punk theme. The second two examples of print use a litho-printing techniques. I made marks and wrote into them to create textured images.
These pieces were also done using the litho-printing technique and were a part of my Punk A' Level exploration work.
These examples show the effect of red ink. A screen printing method was used but without a printing press so this created a less normal effect.
These are examples of print work are from later on in Year 13 and use both the litho-printing technique as well as lino printing.
