The Artist
to create from scratch,
a creation of the mind.
pencil to paper,
thoughts intertwined.
removes the stress,
completes the soul,
inanimate thoughts that start to show,
the vision of the master
bleeding ink within,
with the soul exposed
let the public in.
a subjective viewing of the art complete.
open the soul,
open the heart,
bleed onto the paper,
repeat.

Evening with a Jelly
Together creating a synchronized dance,
Intertwined beauties caught in a trance.
Visually stunning and intelligently divine,
Mixed ingredients so perfect they'll bend your mind.
Is it reality or fiction? The inability to comprehend,
Makes your mind only hope the show won't end.
Twisting and turning in a world all their own,
The innocence on display makes you feel at home.
But as they perform their private show,
Unaware of an audience caught in their glow,
The jellies tantalizingly float off stage right,
Seemingly ready to say goodnight.
And thank you for coming as their world turns black,
Your mind is stuck hoping for a second act.

Cayla Barnes Selected to Girls National Team Camp
The Jr. Kings would like to congratulate Cayla Barnes on becoming the first female in Jr. Kings history to be selected to the Girls National Team Camp in St. Cloud, Minnesota. From July 19-25, 2013, Cayla will be competing against the best girls in her age group in front of college scouts, national team scouts, Olympic scouts, and some very influential people in the women’s hockey community. Needless to say – it’s a big deal for Cayla and the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.

Cayla started playing hockey at age three. Her three older brothers played hockey and their love for the game was too strong to keep Cayla off the ice. She started her skating career as a figure skater but quickly made the transition to hockey skates.

After eleven years playing the game and as a current member of the Jr, Kings 99 Bantam AAA boys team, Cayla has the extraordinary chance to showcase her skills on a national level. The knowledge and experience she’ll gain from the National Team Camp will have influence on her game for the rest of her life.

Best of luck Cayla, we are very proud of you.

Jr. Kings take home top prize at Bauer World Hockey Invitational
The Jr. Kings took home the 2003 Elite Division Championship in this year’s Bauer World Hockey Invitational in Chicago, IL. In a thrilling final game, they were able to beat out Burnaby Winter Club (British Columbia) by the score 4-3.

Director of Youth Hockey Operations for the Jr. Kings, James Gasseau, had this to say about the tournament:

“We have been going to the Bauer invite for years now and we always appreciate this tournament as it runs smooth and the competition is always good.

We are blessed to have a good group of parents and players as it makes for a fun and pleasant experience when everyone is on the same page and understands the big picture in regards to their child's development both on and off the ice.

Winning the 2003 Elite Division Championship game today was a bonus to the experience. Our kids are not only learning the X'os of the game but more importantly how to be a good teammates as it will serve them well throughout their life. Winning today is also good for the continued growth of hockey in California.

Our team tournament MVP player was our defenseman Aidan Hreshuck who lead our team with strong discipline play and he demonstrated once again a great team player attitude“.

Teams representing 30 + states, 7 provinces and 8 countries came out and participated in another wonderful tournament. 422 boys teams and 120 girls teams poured their hearts out on the ice. All of them, no doubt, can’t wait to do it again next year.
