Dune
One of the first strategy games I've played in my childhood was Dune. An exotic story about controlling the sands for their valuable spices, but if you weren't careful sandworms took your harvesters. I've always played the Harkonnen for their Devestator tank unit, but I always liked the Atreides more for some reason. The fading text says "Sand covers everything in time..." and indeed, the whole of the human society as probably going to be covered by sand someday and nobody will ever remember, we will be forgotten, though some traces might remain.
