Shem Creek-Sullivans Island

This is an ongoing project that has me smiling.  Through Derek at the Charleston Art Shop (web only) where I have work for sale, I met Sharon Evins, owner of  'Mt Pleasant Jewelery'.  She had space in her shop for a gallery. Bottom line: needed work to hang. Local color of course. Neat part is I would be revisiting many of the vistas from my days at the College of Charleston.  Finding  scenes as I remember however many now puncuated with new structures, ala the new Cooper River Bridge.  Still the gracefulness of people and place  remains strong.

There is now a boardwalk at Shem Creek that permits one to stroll out to the mouth of the creek.  It allows one to drink in the magnificience of this environ.  Yet allowing my memory to stroll back to th 60s, there were no houses bordering the creek, no mass of cables strung into the sky.  However I think a measure of purity is still here. The preserve has been preserved.
