I was feeling stuck on a collage of magazine images; the composition had pleasing elements, but felt static as a whole. Meanwhile my son had plastered his metallic star stickers all over our black fridge to great effect. I tried it out on the collage, and immediately a sense of motion, magic, and dynamism emerged. My children’s creativity is a constant source of inspiration, which is to say they don’t mind when I steal their ideas.
