The assignment was to realistically draw a candy item. I chose to draw Airheads Xtremes not only because it’s one of my favorite candies, but because of the bright neon colors that I knew would stand out and make for a good drawing. I used a real Airheads Xtremes package to look at for reference of sizes and colors. It was drawn lightly in pencil and filled in with colored pencils. My strengths were the choices of colors, shading, making all the words look just like the real fonts, and using a different technique to show the sugar texture on the candy. Weaknesses were still seeing some outlines of the pencil, and a challenge was making the clear tray look 3D and realistic. A slight shadow could be added to all elements to make it look even more realistic.
