The official Instagram account for Michigan State University regularly amplifies content that illustrates the deep ties our social audience has to the institution. Some of our favorites are seeing where Spartans take us on their travels.

In an effort to showcase some of the adventures our brand is invited to participate in, we set out to provide a space outside of social media to share these photos. What started as a shout-out on social resulted in 30 new street banners installed across campus. 

Selected images included colorful shots of first-year students, current students, alumni, a Broadway star and, in one case, a future member of the class of 2037 (above).

The project provided interesting challenges as we navigated the review process, sought out high-resolution images to fit the double 31” x 94” banner space, and worked to create a consistent banner design that worked across all 30 images.

Participants posted their involvement with pride via their own social media channels and even shared images with us of them standing next to their banner on campus.

And for the curious... 

Those "little" street banners you see around town? They're not so little.
