Ein Zufall gab den [tp3] architekten die Möglichkeit, an ein Jahre zuvor von ihnen entworfenes Einfamilienhaus direkt anzubauen. Das neue Gebäude wurde an die Nachbargarage angebunden, um straßenseitig eine einheitliche Fassade zu bilden, jedoch ohne die Individualität eines eigenständigen Wohnhauses vermissen zu
lasen. Die unterschiedlichen Gebäudevolumina lassen die persönlichen Anforderungen der Eigentümer erkennbar und spürbar werden. So entwickeln sich, ausgehend von den beiden Garagenkörpern und voneinander unabhängig die Strukturen der Wohnbereiche, wobei der eine Baukörper eine bewegte Dachlandschaft und der Andere eine langgestreckte schlichte Struktur bildet. Die Straßenfronten sind in ihrer Fensteranordnung sehr reduziert ausformuliert. Beide Baukörper orientieren sich durch die Anordnung von Innenhof, geschützter Terrasse und gro.zügigen Fensteröffnungen zu einem Ausblick in Richtung der Voralpen. Der Richtung Westen ansteigende Baukörper umschließt einen privaten Innenhof, dem östlichen Baukörper ist eine, über die gesamte Hausbreite verlaufende Terrasse, vorgelagert. Bei beiden Einfamilienhäusern gehen die privaten Freibereiche durch die offene Gestaltung der Grundrisse fließend in die Wohnbereiche über.

A fortunate coincidence provided us with the opportunity to add a directly adjacent building to a single-family home we had designed [a few years earlier]. The aim for our design was obvious. The new structure was to tie in meld and merge with the adjoining house to secure a unified street side façade, and yet to create an independent dwelling.
From differing space programs grow different enclosed volumes, making apparent the most varied and personalized requirements. Thus developed - starting from the two garage blocks - the individual and independent structures of the living and dwelling areas. Here, one of the two buildings displays an excitingly agitated ‘roof landscape’, while the other one is designed as an elongated, decidedly rather simple structure.
While the facades facing the street display a highly reduced scheme of placement and arranging of the window openings, the two main structures – by the design of the inner court and the sheltered terrace, as well as by generous window openings - offer a delightful view towards the foothills of the Alps. The building gradually rising in a westerly direction encloses a very intimate inner court. A terrace running the full width of the building is placed in front of the entire structure located in the East. The ‘terrace landscape’ thus created is enclosed in its spaciousness, as well as highlighted as in a picture frame. Yet by the generous open design of the respective ground plans of the private and protected free areas, these blend and meld into the actual living and dwelling areas.
