//5 stage designer//

Created as a book/light read for the beginning designer, moving through the paces, taking you on the journey as a creative with the steps needed to reach the maximum potential in you and your designs.
A simplistic cover had to be created, as to keep the contents from being given away too much to the viewer! But still keepng the main graphic style in mind the whole time, with type, grid and space usage.
As a collaboration with a fellow co designer, we both had seerate approaches towards the individual pages, and put both of our varying opinions and views together as one, thus giving a diverse and wider range of creativity.

Within, the pages were to be set out as double page spreads, inorder to give the design space to visually express each stage individually instead overcramping the steps as a lot of books tend to. The page designs are each unique to the different aspects of design, keeping the principle in mind while selecting typefaces, layout and style.

The style in which the book was binded, consisted of a concertina approach with the folding of the pages. Giving the pages extra weight and feel to the readers hands, adding a air of quality to the product. Alongside the concertina pages, a hard mounting board was to be used as backing and front covers, giving further stability, and firming up the spine, which was traditionally glued together and held with binding cloth. A overall rigidity was achieved with fine finishing.
The pages each had the task of displaying something that would grab attention and create awe almost, in the way it hits you hard as you turn over each individual page, viewing something new and totally unique to the previous page.

A link between the page, and poster that related (see 5 stages of design, poster series), is clearly evident when viewed side by side, and shows how the two easily relate. With the poster bringing you to the main context, and feature, with the relevant tips, explanations and design.
Having combined typography, grid systems, book binding, collaboration, print, editorial and a ton of reseach, the book clearly displayed the amount gone into it, but also uses the skills that were used as guidelines for the beginner designer to take and use themselves, so getting additional support upon the principles that were taught initially.
