DROP CAP
This is my drop cap assignment in the subject of Typography. In this project, we had to convey the content and its meaning of a famous poem through the drop cap image. I chose a poem of Xuan Quynh named "Tieng ga trua" (Noon Hen sounds). The poem depicts the author's beautiful memories of childhood and the love between grandparents and grandchildren developing the love for our nation.
At first, I defined what I need to convey through this work, for instance: the Garamond font of letter T (this is the most common font of Vietnamese literature books), the images of a hen, eggs and wet rice representing Vietnamese countryside. I also created some versions of sketches on my sketchbook.
After having the first sketches evaluated and suggested by my lecturer, I tried the options of color palettes on Procreate.
Then I started to sketch on the A3 paper.
During the time of painting, I took a lot of pictures in black and white to make sure values of colors are contrast enough.
This is the final look of the project after scanning and in reality.
