Guardian of Souls

Say hello to the new and improved Deesaw! I’m glad that I was able to keep his original design, I just got rid of the whole “scarecrow” thing…it may come back for halloween!

I’ve also changed the entire story too. It’s a lot more simple, yet there’s a lot that can be added to it.

Story: With his species close to extinction, Deesaw travels to a mythical place to retrieve the Water of Life to heal who’s left in his village. He may be considered the strongest Nimreean in his village, yet he too suffers from the soma crumbling disease.
A very simple drawing, if I should say so myself. Just Deesaw dozing off in the evening after eating a snack. I haven’t really shown pictures of Deesaw’s home planet, but this show a little hint of it. The Nimreeains live in a deep crevice within the planet, surrounded by illuminating crystals. Above their home is a wide field of tall yellow grass.
So I imagined a scene where these advanced android spices were trying to extract Roxan's soul from her body. They wanted to use the soul for a permanent source of energy for their planet, and have the reputation of owning the ultimate soul. In a way, they wanted to become the main center of the entire universe.

Deesaw warned them of the potential danger of extracting the soul. A possibility of the soul dying. However, they did not listen and continued the operation. They plugged metal tubes into Roxan's back to pull the soul out. Roxan screamed in pain as the machine was powered on. Then the planet began to shake and crumble. Everyone felt more and more faint as the operation went on. Deesaw, bound in order to not disturb the operation, broke from his bonds and ran to Roxan to free her from the machine. He pulled the tubes from her back and everything around them seemed to stabilized. Roxan, exhausted from the operation, plead from under her breath "I want to go home". Deesaw looked up at the destroyed laboratory ceiling and saw Planet Earth's blue sky. Somehow Roxan opened a portal to Planet Earth when she was in distress.
Years ago I had a dream of this deep colossal temple. There was a giant tree in the middle of the room and the entire temple was covered in glowing purple water. That image stayed put in my head for years. I loved the idea of it so much I decided to put the temple in my Guardian of Souls story.

A secluded planet, not too far from Nimreeah, held the home for the ultimate soul. Deep within the planet was the temple. No one knows who built it, yet it held the purpose to protect the soul. There the soul would sit within a large tree and guide the wondering souls of the universe. Then eventually the soul would leave to gain energy from selected hosts.

In this picture Deesaw decides to show Roxan the temple. As they wondered farther into the dark ruins, Roxan couldn't help but feel connected to the place. In a way, almost comforting. Finally, when they reached the main hall of the temple, the water begins to glow around Roxan. Then the souls, revealing themselves as glowing spheres, float towards Roxan and leave to find the next rightful owner of the new soul.

So there's a small story for this one. Young Deesaw and Seeli were walking though the grain fields and came across the largest rock structure in the Nimreeian border. Ancient legends of their land told of whoever climbs the top of the largest rock is destine for greatness. Deesaw immediately took the challenge. It was quite challenging for little Deesaw, but he was able to reach the top. Now when he visits his homeland he climbs the rock, reminiscing the day he became the guardian of souls.
