Emphasis – Choose Another Color (4 points)
· Draw a small circle around each minor point of emphasis.
· Draw a large star around the major point of emphasis.
· Answer the questions below.
Name THREE minor points of emphasis. How do they show emphasis (contrasting what?) How do they add meaning to the art, i.e. – what do they communicate? (3 pts. each)
1) Streetlight from the city – Contrasting balance. Significantly large, bright light compared to the smaller lights..
2) Streak of light through the hexagons.. – Contrasting hue, value. Warmer colours.
3) Red stroke around skyline – Contrasting emphasis, shape. It clarifies the sky and the skyline.
What is the major point of emphasis (THE FOCAL POINT). What causes is to stand out (describe using elements and principles). How does it add meaning to the art, i.e. – what does it communicate? (3 pts.)
I have to say, my sweater. Since it’s a bright, turquoise colour, compared to the dark background and mid-ground (the contrast). It communicates.. the one, shining bright idea, that can stand out from all this conformity, or simplicity.
