BOOK DESIGN FOR FUTURE CONSUMER (PART 1)

This project explores the future of printed books through book design.
Firstly, the research on the history of the book design was done. Results concluded that the book should not change significantly from the form known today and should retain the basic features of traditional book characteristics in the future. Nevertheless, functional book design should respond to rising online consumer behavior, reflecting essential needs of interactivity, easily and freely accessible information, and the emerging need for personalized products.

Future scenario part 1 is the first part of this project, representing the printed book as a lasting, eternal value. With its unique form and custom-made design, the physical shape of the book becomes the work of art that you want to keep on your bookshelf or pass it on to future generations.

To maintain the structure of the traditional book, all the pages of this book are modeled on the classic Van de Graaf grid, widely used in manuscripts and incunabula and known as the secret canon. The design of the inner pages highlights the last two lines of each sonnet (which are usually philosophical and summarize the sonnet); this way, typography creates timeless illustrations on each page of the book.

Carefully selected paper, symbolic colors, and even the smell of this book help to highlight the unique and irreplaceable feeling of a printed book
that no other invention can recreate.
