FLAT LAYS
‘Flat lay’ is a photo composition technique used to bring out the contrasts and cohesion in everyday objects, as well as to offer a unique style for display.
Flat lays were constantly in production at Eyespace, as they were needed for social media feeds and monthly publications. I collaborated with the marketing team and the head of retouching to arrange and shoot the latest frames with carefully considered props.
Often, items would have to be rearranged in post production to work to a particular scale or size ratio. For example, when used in a magazine, the items may have to flow around a paragraph of text, a headline or a logo. To make the process easier of rearranging the items digitally in post production, we would also shoot the items separately on a neutral background.
