Type Specimen Poster
Typography Exploration
Brief
Design a type specimen poster for the purpose of selling two typefaces to graphic designers—the poster should present the typefaces in an engaging and visually exciting manner. Like all specimen posters, they should showcase the variety, scale, contrast, and potential of each of the typefaces. Create and include a manifesto statement that focuses on “how do I create good typography?”

For my type specimen poster, I chose to work with New Spirit, designed by Miles Newlyn and Riccardo Olocco, and combine it with Questa Sans, designed by Martin Majoor and Jos Buivenga. In terms of the art direction of this poster, I wanted to elaborate on the vintage and nostalgic qualities of the New Spirit typeface, and so I chose a warm colour palette and created a layout that resembles the organized chaos of antique newspapers. To keep the design inviting and organic, round shapes and curves were favoured and grain was used to bring in some texture.
