This was a personal piece designed to express the contrast between those in power and the rest of us. 

The golden rule is the ethical tenet of doing to others as you would have them do to you. 

However, in practice this is not how people generally act, often due to the constraints of culture itself. Those who follow wealth and power at all costs will walk over others, often without even realizing that they're there.
