I have a particular interest in using fishing line. Fishing line is light and thin but also has durability, which is required to make an object. Moreover, fishing line is translucent and has smooth surface texture. I find these characteristics of fishing line very suitable for creating an object of an organic form. In particular, I apply a basketry system to create an organic form object.

My themes are transformation and space. Fishing line is fundamentally a two-dimensional object. However, when a basketry system is applied on the fishing line, it is transformed into a three dimensional object. The transformation can also be extended to create various spaces. Through different combinations and formula of transformations, various spaces can be generated.

My study focuses on the role that space plays as a place for people’s interactions. I propose to create various organically-shaped interaction spaces, built from fishing line. An organic form of the space, together with the translucent features of fishing line allows different people to see various images and create various interpretations.
