Seeing
"Seeing" is an exploration of blindness. As an artist I consider sight to be the most important of my senses and one of my biggest fears is going blind. In these photographs I've explored my personal ideas of what it would be like to go blind and the effect it would have on my psyche. The photographs are based on my preconcieved notions of blindness and more loosely based on stories my mother has told me, having been legally blind herself. Each photograph is a mixture of story and dream. The high contrast is intentional and meant to be reminiscent of my fear and evoke a dream-like, surreal aura.

You
I believe that people have the tendency to allow personal bias to impact how they percieve the world. You is conceived from the idea that we often allow our prejudice to affect our perception of others and their intentions. The mask is representative of my allowing my perception of reality to shield the true motiovations of others.

Out of My System
The purpose of this piece was to release my anxieties through writing and photography. The ten writings in this series were done diaristically with some excerpts intentionally hidden; the images strategically placed in order to hide my more private thoughts. In the past I've been hesitant to work on personal pieces or do self portraits, never wanting to draw attention to myself or let others know how I really feel. I made this series to combat my misgivings
