Wa Sa (2022) by Jamie Scott
-earthenware clay, electronics, LED, epoxy, acrylic paint
Wa Sa is inspired by Kintsugi: the Japanese craft of repairing damaged ceramics with gold. The name ‘Wa Sa’ is derived from Wabi Sabi - the Japanese philosophy of embracing imperfections.

The user slides the two sections together or apart to adjust the amount of light allowed though.
‘Wa Sa’ is made using sustainable materials. The earthenware clay shell is recyclable and the ‘bowl’ housing itself is made from soy wax with a thing layer of clear protective epoxy. When the product reaches the end of its life, the design allows the user to easily disassemble the product: allowing for easy access to other recyclable components.
