Working with letter as abstract form ("form” as in “shape” and visual appearance rather than simply as a recognizable letter), explore letterform details as dynamic formal elements. Crop, frame, scale, layer, and rotate letterforms in order to create interesting spatial relationships of foreground and background, positive / negative space, and depth. Through a process of “formal” exploration, you will eventually create five still compositions out of your letter forms. 

Keep all of your process work as high-res documents. If anything gets corrupted, you will have older versions to fall back on. Once a project is finished, archive all process work for future reference. Either use a designated Box folder or External Hard drive for storage. You will need all process work for your DES570 Portfolio class. This also teaches you the importance of file organization.
