A 12 year old girl, Jordan Linville (jordansfight.org) where I live was diagnosed with cancer and I wanted to find a way to use my design skills to help her and her family through this hard time. I connected with Del Reid of 26shirts.com who dedicates 26 shirts a year to a needy cause through his heavy influence within the Buffalo, NY community.
I decided to design a shirt themed after new Buffalo Bills, Defensive Coordinator, Jim Schwartz and played off the Star Wars/Spaceballs spoof phrase "May the Schwartz be with You".
Shirt launched on February 17th 2014 and 100% of the proceeds go toward Jordan and her family. This shirt sold over 70 shirts and raised over $500 for the Linville family. It was also rumored that Jim Schwartz himself purchased a shirt.
In this portfolio piece, you can see my process and finished work. I used threshold features in Illustrator to identify contrast and dark tones, then drew all shades and lines myself.
