I always like to keep track of my progress in a painting. I find it interesting that so much of the painting is covered up by the time it's finished. This way I get to see everything.
This was a gift for my cousin. He had been offering to buy my art for years, but I would never accept payment. Plus, I never wanted to give him what I had already made because I knew I could do better. Years went by, but recently he had gotten married and had a kid, and I decided it was finally time to make something for him.
