Ocean shoal off Antarctica

I’m excited to share with you my recent work “Ocean shoal off Antarctica” I created this painting recently and it is the 49th in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in us all. New horizons, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our worlds.

After 8 days of steady progress the travellers were 1,800 miles south west and nearing the coast of Antarctica.

As they watched the great ice flows and other formations above they knew the coast wasn’t far away.

Ray switched to sonar and they spotted several of blips on the screen. Minutes passed and the numbers grew until they were surrounded by a huge number of them.

Looking out of the forward view port Mia was enthralled to see hundreds of fish of all sizes and larger marine mammals as well. She gestured to Ray “Wow come and check these out.” Her friend looked out I’m amazement at the numbers of marine creatures surrounding them.

“They seem to be attracted to our hull, I think it’s the low level sound frequency our engines are emitting.” Mia smiled “I think they’re a welcome party and it’s us they’re sensing.”

“Yes you’re right” her friend agreed, “We’re very close now, let’s follow them and see where they take us”

They changed course and followed the shoal at its pace, both excited at where they were headed, soon they would reach their destination…
