Initial Problem Discovery
What problem am I trying to solve?

"It takes 9,982 gallons of water to produce just one pair of regular old blue jeans taking into account the growing of cotton, dyeing & machine wash process."

Problem Validation
Why is this problem Important?
So, what is the
Solution?
I decided to solve this problem through Up-cycling. It's a creative process of taking something that you no longer use and turning it into something functional and giving it a second life.

How would I measure success?

1. Design a zero waste collection which means to utilise tiny pieces of scraps too.
2. Design useful & one of a kind products for people.

Research & Explanation
What methods of research will I use to help drive clarity and focus to my solution, and why?
I started by collecting denims discarded by my friends and family & arranged them on the basis of color to make sense of the mess. Mostly jeans I received were all shades of blue which dominated my collection.
To understand what all could be made with denims that people use, I started my visual research on Instagram & Pinterest & prepared a mood board of the techniques & products that could be constructed.
To validate the research, I asked my audience on Instagram what they’d like me to design & here’s (below) what they’d have to say. This gave me clarity about the products I should focus on.

Problem Statement
How might I craft a thoughtful, one of a kind collection from discarded denim to reduce waste?
