This surface texturing and shading unit was themed around places of worship. Tasked with creating a donation box and placing it within suitable environment. I decided to create a Japanese style of donation box known as a Saisenbako, set within a Shinto shrine entrance leading up towards a torii gate. The box was modelled and textured using 3ds Max with the use of V-Ray for the material shaders and rendering. A variety of bump, displacement and alpha texture maps were used to create a detailed final render.  I used this project as an opportunity to further develop my texturing skills within 3ds Max with the use of V-Ray blend material maps to create a realistic chipped red painted wood texture on the box. The black painted symbols were digitally drawn in Photoshop then used as an alpha map and a displacement map was used to create a detailed bump on the centre of the golden emblem.
