ORANGUTANS
Pop-up Book
Personal Project
It used to be fun looking at Pop-up books and thinking how they were actually made and the mystery behind it. So, this time I tried my hand at one of the courses online and carried out this personal project which was made out of my digitised hand drawn illustrations.
It was really fun learning the mechanisms and the process, but at the same time it
was pretty challenging as well while executing them in my own book.
The book is about the funny Orangutans, it's a picture-book displaying their journey in my
head, the witty, the funnier and cartoon like character they have. All the illustrations I made were manually drawn first, then scanned and then printed out on printing sheets.
They were later pasted on a heavier gsm paper, to make the mechanisms work. The cover
of the book is the only illustration which I drew digitally. The entire background of the
book is hand-painted. Simple basic mechanisms are used to develop this piece of work.
First I made small dummies of each page mechanism before
making the final one, just like the one below.
These black and white hand drawn illustrations are the roots of my project.
