Designed for "The Other Almanac" project, an independent magazine that want to propose an alternative choice to the Old Farmer's Almanac.
The old Farmer's Almanac is the oldest continuous print publication in the US, it's a mix of old wisdom, garden, advice, little poems, jokes, how to's, recipes, calendars, weather predictions and other stuff. But it is limited culturally, it does not take stances on anything political or social and has historically catered to rural white American farmers.
The Other Almanac is an alternative almanac, it's meaningful and bridges across the urban and rural divide in the US.
It will be a new almanac for everyone.
It has parts of traditional almanac, but span a multitude of prefessions, ancestries, ages, skills, interests, spiritual and political perspectives. There will still be small wisdoms, articles, tips, calendars, and star guides, but it will also include art, activism, historical critique, word from professors, farmworkers, scientists, sex workers, medicine makers, incarcerated people, activists, artists, astrologers and more.
Data Pattern
I played with the main graph, proposing it as a visual element and creating an elegant and wavy pattern. You can find it in two different color versions.
