I was invited by Wydawnictwo Otwarte to create an illustration for the cover of "Rów Mariański" - polish edition of Jasmin Schreiber's "Marianengraben".

I was supposed to create a detailed, underwater image which included an octopus. The rest was left to my imagination.

As the book deals with the theme of overcoming sadness and grief, I decided to include a human figure for the main heroine and illuminate the silhouette with a ray of hope.

Two versions, darker and lighter. In the end, the lighter one was chosen.

A simple pattern I created for the inside cover, which was not used in the end.
