DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR SUNNY STREET

Sunny Saturdays, a proposed event designed for Sunny Street. We designed this event in response to a client brief provided by Sonya, a co-founder of Sunny Street – a medical outreach service that provides care to people in vulnerable circumstances.
To ease the struggles of those with financial difficulties, we proposed the site of Musgrave Park in West End, Brisbane, as it’s central and easily accessible via free public transport.
The event is comprised of a recurrent community space, where collaborators such as Orange Sky, Rosie’s, M.I.C.A.H and Headspace can provide food, shower and cleaning facilities, mental health support, with the addition of recreational activities and entertainment.
We envision that this event would encourage routine, consistency, and alleviate feelings of shame, worthlessness, and loneliness, through the provision of a public setting that facilitates connection between individuals with alike struggles.
Ultimately, we believe that Sunny Saturdays would provide a sustainable source of wellbeing to members of the community, building routine and facilitating connectedness.
