Lissitzsky Exhibition Poster

In this project we were asked to create an Exhibition Poster for a certain kind of design. I chose Russian Constructivis because I loved the use of negative space and bold colors. The designs were often very geometrical and utilized angles to guide the viewers eye. As an homage to Lissitzsky I decided to imitate one of his famout pieces, "Beat the whites with the Red Wedge."
I tend to start my projects by writing down everything possible onto a single piece of paper.

I'm a big believer in process so thumbnails and roughs are plentiful, here are a few.

Here is the start of my roughs, done with red and black marker in my sketchbook.
Comp 1 - This was more of an experimental poster. I designed this as something completely different to see if I could find a new direction.
Comp 2 - This was the core design that I was planning on most.

The Final Poster Rendition for the class.
I decided to alter the font for a more constructivist feel. After may iterations this Razer font was the best fit.
