Anatomical Maps

The inspiration for creating Anatomical Maps was the complex nature of the human body, gender equality, the problem of discrimination against disabled people in society (ableism) as well as the way of presenting the human body in medical publications that has changed over the centuries. The personalized character of the characters presented in my artwork and their stylized poses refer to old anatomical atlases such as "De humani corpiris fabrica" by Wesaliusz and Jan van Calcar or lithographs by Bernhard Siegfried Albinus
from "Tabulae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani".

By showing non-stereotypical figures of men and women – muscular women, long-haired men with a delicate body and people after limb amputation – I'm trying to emphasize
that every body is beautiful, even if it doesn't fit cultural norms.
The medical correctness of Anatomical Maps was consulted with Collegium Medicum.
