The aim of this assignment was to produce a cover feature for Creative Review that shows how we produce work in our chosen field. It is meant to reflect an aspect of my personality and my approach to work.

Above is the proposed cover that was chosen.

 

But in order to show my approach to the way that I produce my illustrations , I decided to explore the magic avenue to show how colour is used in the work. Also I explored the light painting technique to show illustrations emerging from the magic ball or mass in the hands.

 

In order to produce the magic effect , I explored photoshop tutorials on creating a nebula space effect that could be adapted to create magic. I decided to use glowsticks to create the magic effect for the mass in the hands.

 

Aspect Approaching: Colour in illustration work

 

Model: Myself as it is exploring how I approach my illustration work 

 

Posing: hands cupped so that the fingertips are visible and my eyes closed facing down towards my hands

 

Wardrobe: White t-shirt to counteract against the dark background

 

Backdrop : Dark so the light paintings can show up brighter up in the foreground

 

Techniques used: Light painting using Glowsticks and laser pens

 

 

 

Lighting: from the side highlighting the left hand side of the face

 

Camera: Nikon

 

Action:  The shot took from 30-40 minutes

               There were 30 pictures taken and I chose  6 of them to follow up which lead to 3 being chosen for       producing 3 different mocks to test how the layout would work
