Homage to my grandmother. A collection of poems and prayers she wrote in loose pages through the years, now organized and compiled in a book.
I opted for a more brutalist and minimal look for the book, teaming up the text with full spreads of black and white images. The images were taken from a personal collection of photographs i was keeping to use as textures. I tried to relate the division of chapters in the book with textures that somehow relate to the theme presented.
" A compilation of prose, songs and thoughts, written by Pureza Eusébio da Silva, recorded by herself on loose sheets, saved over time, now to be gathered in this book. She writes with all her love and creativity, on the most diverse subjects, from the city where she was born, Vila do Conde, to the places she visited, the people she loves and the beliefs that fill her heart. Here, a whole adoration of life is exposed, an optimistic vision, which makes us understand the way Pureza understands the world and those around it. An almost synesthetic and sentimental journey, with a few moments of playfulness in between, which only makes sense to call it, in a double-meaning play on words, “Prosas de Pureza”. " [Pureza translates to Purity]
