Weather Conference Programme

PROJECT
This is a school project. The purpose was to come up with a concept and theme for a conference using the assigned topic (extreme weather and climate change). That concept is applied to a cover page for the programme and then those design principlesare extended to the two inner pages. The programme contains information on the speakers, and schedules for two days of the event. There is also a banner for the conference that would be displayed at the actual event.

OBJECTIVES
Come up with a concept for the conference topic
Use interesting layout for inner programme pages
Include all provided copy and organize it within the programme pages
Use type hierarchy to emphasize different portions of the copy and create flow in the design
Incorporate the design elements and concept from the initial cover to the rest of the project to create a consistent package

RATIONALE
In this conference package the major motif is an upside down umbrella that has been mangled by a storm, which represents the theme of extreme weather and the chaotic effect of climate change. The angular axis is used for some of the content in the programme to simulate the angle of the umbrella on the cover, and therefore create consistency throughout the promotional materials. The colours include a dark, navy blue, a light tint of cyan, and a bright pink, which are meant to represent the fluctuation in temperature as a result of climate change. This, combined with the storm cloud texture, drive the theme of the conference package.
