For this project, I photographed my sister in her art studio, which is an 8 x 12ft shed in our backyard. My sister tends to prefer very bright and warm portraits so I wanted to honor that style in these photos; shooting these images in the daytime in our background really helped to achieve this. I first began by rearranging her art and furniture to fit the small space. I wanted to position the photo in the corner of her studio since the doorway on the West wall was the main ambient light source as well as a small window on the South wall. We tried many different poses and angles but the one I felt encapsulated her environment the most is when I was photographing from right outside the door. I shot the photo from a low angle with a focal length of 21mm, an aperture of f/3.8, and a shutter speed of 1/100.
Behind the Scenes
