Gradually, we realize that “time” is a tender killer. As we chase after time, we have slowly forgotten everything we used to practice.
Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, my mother would prepare offerings, which is common in ancestral worship such as paying respect to our ancestors on the 1st and 15th day of the lunar calendar every month and special occasions.

As society evolves, this practice is starting to fade away. This project aims to explore this practice by capturing the objects I found in my house used for ancestral offerings. Encompassing the concept of sending messages to the dead, which is similar to our contemporary practice of online conversation, this work expresses our need to communicate with someone we love even when they are not in this world with us.

I also have the chance to explore the artistry of joss paper offerings, which is also one of the vanishing trades of this era.

this project is part of my taxonomies submission for my creative photography level 1 module.
