"The girl's skin tone in this illustration is not fair or yellow like the Chinese or Indonesian Chinese stereotypes, yet she proudly wears Cheongsam Batik. This is a social problem that I often face where people like to question someone's Chinese Indonesian identity just because they don't have light or yellow skin and slanted eyes. With this work, I would like to show that Chinese Indonesian isn't just about the look, Chinese Indonesian is about the blood and culture." -Kz
