Museum pictured left; Mine pictured right. During my visit to the museum, I was inspired by Sarah Grethe. The one with the hands in the grass spoke to me, especially after I realized it encapsulated the concept of home and it was photographed where she grew up in Germany. For my photograph, I went to the beach because I grew up in Oceanside, CA, and always went to the beach growing up. The beach has a special place in my heart and is part of me. The next one that inspired me also has to do with the beach which is why I chose it. It was photographed by Rico Nurk during a surfing festival in the Netherlands. I went to the harbor and caught an older gentleman getting ready to go out and surf and thought it went well since it was also on a cold, cloudy day. In all my photographs I tried to edit them similarly which was all mostly desaturated and in black and white. This was out of my comfort zone because I love to bring out the brightest, most saturated colors when I photograph anything. My overall experience left me really inspired to create more artwork because it was cool to see so many different types of art in one place. It was my first time going to a museum as an art major so I feel as though I appreciated it more than the last time I went, which was over 5 years ago.
